Wicked Saints Studios, a Black woman-led video game studio, has partnered with Discord, e.l.f Beauty, and Starlight Children’s Foundation to launch World Reborn. The first-of-its-kind interactive story game uses behavioral science and positive psychology to boost players’ well-being.
With 87% of Gen Z gaming online weekly, World Reborn meets them where they are—turning gameplay into meaningful connection and real-world impact.
How does the game work?
Users will be given real-world quests called Training Mods, which feature real-life changemakers addressing several social goods, such as supporting women’s sports from e.l.f., empowering teen authenticity and well-being from Discord, and boosting the spirits of hospitalized children from Starlight Children’s Foundation.
“I like to describe it as Duolingo for saving humanity – play a little every day to find your power,” Jessica Murrey, CEO of Wicked Saints, said. “In World Reborn, fantasy narrative gameplay meets real-life changemakers to provide bite-sized ways to improve each player’s well-being, relationships, and the world around them,” she adds.
What brands are collaborating with Wicked Saints?
e.l.f. is the exclusive brand launch partner, according to a press release shared with POCIT. Discord, a communications platform that encourages players to make meaningful connections around the joy of playing games, is the exclusive communications platform partner. Starlight, a Children’s Foundation that helps severely ill children find happiness through games and play, is the principal non-profit partner for the limited live period.
The foundation is working with World Reborn to help players send uplifting words to hospitalized kids with a Training Mod that features a now 14-year-old who survived a double-lung transplant at 11 years old called Jade.
“Through World Reborn, not only will players learn Jade’s story and better understand what children like her go through, but they will have the chance to boost the spirits of hundreds of hospitalized kids just like Jade,” Adam Garone, chief executive officer of Starlight Children’s Foundation said.
The game will be available for an eight-week limited run. Those interested in experiencing World Reborn can download it on the Apple App Store.
