Grammy-winning artist Usher is giving back to the Atlanta community with the launch of a new initiative aimed at empowering young creatives, as first reported by Billboard.
Usher Opens Content Studio In Atlanta
On December 9, the R&B icon officially opened the Usher Raymond IV Spark Lab, a content studio located at the Whitehead Boys & Girls Club in Atlanta.
The studio launch featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony and marks the start of a broader program to create creativity and innovation among local youth.
The studio offers 14-to 24-year-olds hands-on experience in the entertainment industry.
Participants earn $15/hour and receive 120 hours of training from industry professionals
In addition to the content studio, Usher is introducing an Entertainment Industry Club, set to officially begin in 2025.
These efforts are designed to provide young people with the tools, resources, and confidence needed to pursue careers in creative industries.
Giving Back to His Roots
For Usher, this initiative is deeply personal according to Billboard. “Returning to the Boys & Girls Clubs, where I discovered my passion, and launching this program in Atlanta is a full-circle moment for me,” he shared during the event.
The Spark Lab and Entertainment Industry Club is about providing our youth with the tools, confidence, and opportunities they need to turn their dreams into reality.”
As a former member of the Boys & Girls Club himself, Usher credits the organization with inspiring his career.
His ongoing Social Impact Tour, developed in collaboration with the New Look Foundation, has already positively influenced over 4,800 kids across North America.
Community Impact and Next Steps
The Spark Lab’s opening is already generating excitement among the Boys & Girls Club members.
“Usher’s a great guy, man. He’s giving a lot of these youth chances to help their community,” one participant told Atlanta Now.
The initiative is expected to inspire young people in Atlanta and beyond to explore creative fields and realize their potential.
