Nigeria’s 3M Tech Talent Initative Aims To Build The Future Digital Workforce, Announces New Partnerships

Published:

Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy (FMoCDE) has announced a three-year partnership with IHS Nigeria to empower Nigerians with critical digital skills.

IHS Nigeria is one of the world’s largest independent owners, operators, and developers of shared communications infrastructure.

The partnership supports the recently launched 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative to train three million Nigerians with technical skills in four years.

The Partnership

The three-year partnership aims to establish the 3MTT Learning Community and facilitate the setting up of learning communities in Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

It will also provide opportunities for the 3MTT participants to gather weekly, learn, collaborate, and build projects.

The establishment of these learning communities will also help facilitate the strengthening of local innovation ecosystems across Nigeria.

Within this partnership, IHS Nigeria will provide financial support of N1 billion ($1 million)  and industry expertise to the initiative and has committed to paying the salaries of the 37 learning community managers.

It will also provide access to a learning platform, supporting the 3MTT talent development efforts.

“I am excited to welcome IHS Nigeria as a partner on this initiative,” said Olatunbosun Tijani, a Nigerian-British entrepreneur and the Nigerian minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy.

“Our journey towards a national digital transformation requires significant collaboration between the public and private sectors, and this is the first in several partnerships we intend to secure to achieve our goals as outlined in our Strategic Blueprint.”

“At IHS Nigeria, we take pride in giving back to the people and communities where we operate,” said Mohamad Darwish, IHS Nigeria’s CEO, in a press release.

“We share the Government’s commitment to Nigeria’s economic empowerment and growth, and hope this initiative will feed into President Bola Tinubu’s agenda on job creation while enhancing technical skills.”
