Scoreplay, a media management start-up, raised $13 million in a series A funding round, as stated by a press release. The round included notable investors such as NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo, Soccor giant Alex Morgan, and Alexis Ohanian’s Seven Seven Six VC fund.
The AI-driven platform provides tools that allow teams and leagues to automate the ordering and distribution of content. This clarifies what is usually a complicated process with different types of media spread over numerous software platforms. Scoreplay helps users discover content faster by accelerating new content production and streamlining delivery to athletes, broadcasters, and sponsors.
$13 million Series A funding round
The series A funding round was led by 20VC, a media-focused, early-stage-focused VC firm launched by podcaster Harry Stebbing. The other 11 investors in the round included previous F1 world champion Nico Rosberg, UFC heavyweight Ciryl Gane, and Apex Capital, a Portuguese VC fund with several other athlete investors.
“ScorePlay is setting a new standard for sports media. They’re helping athletes, teams, and leagues adapt to evolving media consumption, and they’re exactly what the industry needs—which is why we’re thrilled to partner with them,” Series A lead Harry Stebbings of 20VC said.
What is Scoreplay?
Scoreplay is the first AI-powered media startup that helps sports organizations streamline their content. It was created in 2021 by Victorien Tixier and Xavier Green, who were featured on the Forbes 30 under 30 list in 2024. The AI platform automates tags and organizes content to help new workflow like instant multilingual distribution.
In under a few years, Scoeplay has become the central hub for content operations at over 200 leading sports organizations across the globe. Over 50 US teams (including NBA and NHL franchises), over 100 European clubs (across Premier League, LaLiga and Bundesliga), and more than 50 leagues and federations (including MLS, NWSL, and international federations in basketball, volleyball, and skiing) are served by Scoreplay.
“They’re setting a new standard for the industry and this was obvious in the founding days of Angel City FC, which is why we invested then and every round since,” investor Alexis Ohanian said.
