Lewis Hamilton’s Nonprofit And HP Team Up To Improve STEM Skills

Published:

Lewis Hamilton’s global foundation, Mission 44, and HP Inc. announced a multi-year partnership to improve access for young people pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The partnership will run in Miami and eventually expand to the UK, providing young people with technology training, digital skills, and mentorship needed to succeed in the digital economy.

This collaboration aligns with Mission 44’s drive for greater inclusivity in STEM and HP’s aim to improve digital equity for 150 million people globally by 2030, according to a press release.

“The partnership between HP and Mission 44 harnesses the unique strength and influence of our organizations. HP’s ability to shape the future of work through technology, combined with Mission 44’s drive for impactful change, makes this collaboration truly powerful,” Michele Malejki, Global Head of Social Impact at HP Inc. and Executive Director of the HP Foundation, said.

Giving young people the skills to succeed in tech

Mission 44 and HP will first support two Miami-based tech hubs. The first is America on Tech, an early pipeline tech talent accelerator that provides young people with career pathways. The second tech hub is Miami EdTech, which aims to provide workforce development through computer science and digital skills.

After this, both organizations will further their collaborations by supporting schools and educators in the UK to provide young people with digital skills to prepare for tomorrow’s workforce.

To begin the partnership, a group of young people from Miami were invited to the Grand Prix circuit to meet Lewis Hamilton. The group was also given a special tour of the Scuderia Ferrari HP Team garage and F1 paddock and talked with industry insiders about the opportunities and skills required for careers in STEM-related industries.

Educating people in tech outside of Miami

HP has also launched the new online Future of Work Skills Hub as part of the partnership. This portal offers learners and educators a variety of skills courses, such as AI, data science, and business leadership. It also gives educational resources to help educators understand and utilize generative AI.

“Technology is at the heart of our mission to empower underrepresented young people. Thanks to HP and Mission 44, and the creation of our new hub, we now have more tech to teach with, giving our students the skills they need to succeed in STEM,” Carlos Vazquez, Founder of Miami EdTech adds.
