HealthyMD and IMG Health Clinic, have announced a merger aimed at enhancing health equity and providing high-quality sexual healthcare to over 50 million underserved individuals across the United States.

Clifford W. Knights II and Steve Vixamar founded Independent Medical Group (IMG) to provide healthcare services to those in need and to stop the spread of HIV and Hep C in underserved communities.
HealthyMD, their telehealth platform, offers comprehensive at-home tests, in-clinic, mobile clinic appointments, improving sexual healthcare access, particularly in Black and LGBTQIA+ communities.
This model also addresses the needs of individuals in challenging environments, including those without healthcare options, the unhoused, and those transitioning from correctional facilities.
“Ten years ago, we recognized a critical gap in treatment for underserved communities,” said Clifford W. Knights II in a press release.
“This merger is a significant step towards eradicating the HIV and Hepatitis C epidemic in the U.S., maximizing federal resources, and improving access to comprehensive care for our most vulnerable populations.”
Leveraging Technology for Personalized Care
The new entity will use a tech infrastructure to enhance care delivery models. This includes data-driven insights to address social determinants of health and personalize care for underserved populations.
By combining their care systems—dozens of clinics, a telehealth network, diagnostic services, experienced care coordinators, and search and rescue teams—HealthyMD and IMG Health Clinic are well-positioned to meet the diverse needs of their patients.
“Growing up, Cliff and I saw the profound impact that even minimal access to care can have on individuals and communities,” said Steve Vixamar.
“By merging our organizations, we aim to make a significant positive impact on health equity at all levels—individual, community, and national.”
The merger will accelerate the expansion of HealthyMD and IMG Health Clinic across the U.S., focusing on underserved areas where the need is greatest.
