Gossip personality Tasha K will pay rapper Cardi B nearly $1.2 million over the next five years and refrain from making disparaging remarks about Cardi B or her family, The Rolling Stone reports.
Cardi B sued Tasha K, the blogger behind UnWinewithTashaK, for defamation in 2019. A federal jury ruled in Cardi’s favor in 2022, awarding her $4 million over false claims made on YouTube and other platforms.
Tasha K filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2023, and judge approved the bankruptcy repayment plan on Monday.
How much will Tasha K pay Cardi B?
Tasha K, born Latasha Kebe, will pay in monthly installments, prioritizing Cardi B, also known as Belcalis Almánzar, ahead of other creditors she owes. Tasha K will pay Cardi B $176,532 in the first year. By the end of the fifth year, Kebe is expected to pay Cardi B $318,653 over 12 months. The total for the full five years amounts to $1.178 million.
In addition to this, Kebe has also agreed to refrain from saying or publishing anything “derogatory, disparaging, or defamatory” about Cardi B or any of her family members. She also said that no content associated with Almánzar will appear on her social media accounts, websites, blogs, or channels, including The Wine Cellar Podcast or Tasha K Live.
Why did Cardi B file the defamation lawsuit?
In 2019, Cardi B filed her underlying libel and defamation lawsuit, stating Kebe’s supposed “campaign of slander” implicated false allegations that Cardi B had herpes, used cocaine, and worked as a sex worker. Cardi explained that these allegations led her to experience extreme “anxiety” and depression, weight fluctuation, and caused issues in her relationships, according to a courtroom source speaking to Rolling Stone.
In previous filings in the bankruptcy case, Almánzar’s lawyers alleged that Keba was planning to hide her assets. In the first file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2023, Kebe said her largest asset was a 2021 Chevy Silverado, worth less than $59,000 altogether. However, the bankruptcy discharge plan mostly depends on Kebe’s future income. It says she’s both paid individually and through her husband, Cheick Kebe’s company, Yelen Entertainment.
