BuuPass, Kenya’s leading provider of digital travel solutions, has acquired QuickBus, increasing its status as the largest intercity transport booking platform in Africa.
Expansion and Innovation
By integrating QuickBus’s extensive network, which includes over 5,200 intercity routes across Nigeria and South Africa, BuuPass has broadened its service offerings.
This expansion brings an additional 5,000 routes to BuuPass’s platform, pushing its monthly active user accounts to 650,000.
The integration also includes onboarding over 100 bus operators and having high-profile online distribution partnerships with major African corporations like FNB, Voda, and MTN.
Digital Transformation in Travel
BuuPass’s platform changes the traditional transport model by digitizing operations. It enables operators to minimize cash leakages, leverage data-driven business analytics, and enhance online sales conversions.
BuuPass users will now have access to international routes in 16 African countries, including Kenya, Tanzania, and Ghana.
BuuPass’ co-founder Sonia Kabra believes this acquisition is a stepping stone towards creating a comprehensive, interconnected network of transport options across Africa.
“We are excited to expand our footprint in Africa as we actively look for more opportunities to bring our platform to new African markets,” Kabra stated, according to Tech Labari.
The acquisition also enriches its customer offerings with enhanced travel analytics for personalized journey planning and a loyalty program that rewards frequent travellers.
As BuuPass continues to innovate, they are set to introduce new features such as multi-modal travel options that integrate bus, train, and flight bookings into a single platform.
