Bryson Tiller Is Planning A Break From Music To Focus On His Debut Video Game

Published:

Last week, Grammy-nominated artist Bryson Tiller released his self-titled fourth studio album, his first LP in four years.

However, fans may have to wait even longer for his next release as the 31-year-old plans to take a hiatus from music to focus on video game design.

From music to game design

In an interview with Complex, Tiller shared he would be taking hiatus from music to focus on his passion for video game design.

“I would love for this [album] to be the last one for a while,” Tiller shared. His decision stems not only from a desire to explore his interests but also to spend more quality time with his family, particularly his 10-year-old daughter.

Tiller’s journey into game design isn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision.

“I just want to take a hiatus because my No. 1 passion is video games,” he told Complex. “I’m a designer in my spare time. I’ve been designing a game for the past three years.”

The shift towards game design offers him a work-life balance that the demanding schedule of a music career has not.

“Game design is super cool because I could do it from anywhere. I could be next to [my daughter] while she’s gaming, working on my game.”

Tiller’s Debut Game

“I would say about 90% of the time [music] feels like a job, and I would say people have just sucked the fun out of it for me,” he told Complex. This sentiment has propelled his move towards the gaming industry.

“I am a nerd at the end of the day. I love being in the house, playing video games,” Tiller added.

It’s been approximately a year since Tiller announced the formation of his video game company, Trapsoul Games.

While details about his game are still under wraps, his commitment to perfection is clear: “I want to make sure everything’s right. I’ve been playing it. I play it every day.”
