Black Founders Secure $750k For Techstars-Backed Recruitment Intelligence Platform

Published:

UK-based Tech1M has secured $750,000 in pre-seed funding in a boost for the human resources (HR) technology sector.

The round was led by SFC Capital, known for its recent backing of 4D Medicine and VoltShare, and Techstars.

The funding also saw participation from Tech Nation, Barclays Eagle Labs, HSBC Innovation Banking, ICE Network, Vantage, 1000 Black Voices, Foundervine, and GrowLondon Global.

Innovating Recruitment with AI

Tech1M, founded by Tommie Edwards and Damilola Ogunmoye, is set to transform the talent acquisition landscape with its AI technology.

As an alumnus of the 2023 Techstars New York program, Tech1M integrates human expertise with AI to tackle key challenges in recruitment.

The platform uses human-AI augmentation workflows to streamline the recruitment process, shifting the focus from administrative burdens to impactful outcomes.

This approach aims to reduce hiring costs, improve the quality of hires, and accelerate talent acquisition.

“Using traditional recruitment platforms, I’ve always felt a lack of intentionality in the craft of software in helping you find great talents,” said Edwards, CEO of Tech1M in a news release.

“With AI handling the heavy lifting, we can focus on what truly matters – the human side of hiring.”

Strong Backing and Strategic Support

Tech1M has garnered strategic support from various prestigious organizations and programs, including Tech Nation, Barclays Eagle Labs, HSBC Innovation Banking, ICE Network, Vantage, 1000 Black Voices, Foundervine, and GrowLondon Global.

This backing is set to accelerate the company’s growth and development in the HR tech sector.

“We’re excited to back Tommie and Damilola on their journey to make recruitment processes more efficient and effective through human-AI augmentation,” said Ed Stevenson, Investment Executive at SFC Capital.

“Their passion and experience really impressed us and we look forward to seeing the significant impact Tech1M will have in the recruitment space.”
