Zeal Capital’s Stefanie Thomas-Martin Becomes Partner After Leading $50M Fund

Zeal Capital Partners has announced that Stefanie Thomas-Martin has been promoted to Partner.

Since joining the company in 2023, Thomas-Martin has led the Barclays Black Formation Investment (BBFI) vehicle, a $50 million pre-seed investment platform that supports Zeal Capital’s Inclusive Investing™ strategy. She also pioneered the firm’s inaugural scout program.

On the Zeal Capital website, Thomas-Martin says she joined the team to “continue backing exceptional teams with a mission orientation towards delivering value for underserved communities.”

“Stefanie has consistently demonstrated a commitment to our mission and values, a remarkable investment track record that aligns with our mandate,” said Nasir Qadree, founder and managing partner of Zeal Capital, in a press release.

Qadree says that Thomas-Martin will continue to lead the BFFI strategy in her new role as partner. She will also help Qadree maintain the execution of their investment strategies, build the firm’s brand, attract notable entrepreneurs, and position the firm for future capital raises. She will also join the Investment Committee as a member across all mandates.

Stefanie Thomas-Martin’s Career

Thomas-Martin started her venture capital career as an early-stage Impact America Fund (IAF) investor. This institutional venture capital firm grew from $ 7 million to $110 Million AUM to increase economic power to communities of color.

She played a key role in the firm’s earliest Series-A investments, such as one led by Andreessen Horowitz. As one of their firm’s first employees and investors, Thomas-Martin led sourcing, ecosystem building, and deal leadership on 25 financings, spanning pre-seed to Series B.

Outside of her career in venture capital, Thomas-Martin was the Vice President in Citigroup’s global banking division, where she was in charge of a $2 billion portfolio of short-term financings for the firm’s export finance and trade businesses. She graduated from Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Economics and holds an MBA from the Ross School at the University of Michigan.
