Operation HOPE Launches AI Literacy Program For Underserved Communities

Published:

Operation HOPE and Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business has announced the launch of the AI Literacy Pipeline to Prosperity Project (AILP3).

This initiative aims to equip underserved populations across Georgia with the tools needed to succeed in an economy increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence (AI).

The announcement was made during the 10th Annual Hope Global Forums on December 11, 2024, an event dedicated to financial empowerment and creating pathways to economic mobility.

A Comprehensive Plan to Equip Students for an AI Economy

AILP3 will deliver a range of programs to address the growing impact of AI on education and the workforce.

A key focus will be the development of an AI-driven curriculum created by university educators and industry leaders.

This curriculum is designed to inspire students from diverse backgrounds to innovate and excel.

In addition to educational programming, the initiative will offer skills training for families affected by AI-related job disruptions, providing resources to adapt and thrive.

Financial literacy education, a cornerstone of Operation HOPE’s mission, will also be included to help participants build strong financial foundations.

To further support students, the program will provide scholarships and AI-focused apprenticeships, ensuring access to hands-on learning opportunities that prepare them for tech-driven careers.

Bridging the Digital Divide While Reducing Inequality

This initiative is set to launch in Atlanta and expand throughout Georgia, with plans to scale nationally.

The program’s ultimate goal is to serve as a national model for addressing the challenges and opportunities of an AI-driven economy.

“Equitable access to AI education is essential for maximizing the social, educational, and financial benefits of this transformative technology,” said Richard Phillips, Dean of the J. Mack Robinson College of Business in a press release.

“For 30 years, we’ve empowered youth through financial literacy. AILP3 extends our mission, giving young people the tools to prosper in an AI-driven world,” John Hope Bryant, Founder and CEO of Operation HOPE stated.

A Partnership Focused on Inclusive Innovation

AILP3 brings together a diverse coalition of corporate, academic, technology, community, and government stakeholders.

Members of the AI Ethics Council are also playing an important role in shaping the initiative, ensuring that ethical considerations are integrated into its design.

AILP3 aims to bridge the digital divide, increase diversity in AI talent, and reduce economic inequality.
