Tyler Perry’s ‘Divorce In The Black’ Breaks Prime Video Sign-Up Records

Published:

Tyler Perry’s new film, Divorce in the Black, has reportedly led to a surge in US Prime Video subscriptions, according to Amazon MGM Studios.

As first reported by Variety, the film has attracted more new sign-ups to the streaming platform than any other Amazon MGM-produced movie to date.

Strong Viewership Numbers

Divorce in the Black is part of a four-film deal between Tyler Perry and Amazon Studios.

The film, starring Meagan Good and Cory Hardrict, explores the challenges faced by a young bank professional in a troubled marriage.

Since its release on July 11, Divorce in the Black has performed well on streaming charts.

Nielsen reported that the movie garnered over 498 million minutes of viewing time in its first four days, making it the third most-watched film in the US during the July 8-14 period.

This viewership translates to approximately 3.5 million individual views, based on the film’s runtime of nearly 2.5 hours.

Impact on Amazon MGM Studios

The success of Divorce in the Black is significant for Amazon MGM Studios, which has been expanding its content offerings.

Although Amazon did not disclose the specific number of new subscribers, the company noted that this film has outperformed previous top-performing titles in terms of driving US Prime Video sign-ups.

Perry’s upcoming projects with Amazon are highly anticipated, with expectations that they will continue to attract viewers and drive further subscription growth.
