Satgana Appoints Anil Maguru, Pioneering Black Fund Manager, as Partner in Climate-Tech VC Firm

Published:

Climate-tech VC Satgana has appointed Anil Maguru, who is among the less than 10% of Black fund managers worldwide, as its newest partner.

Satgana

Satgana is a climate tech venture capital firm on a mission to invest in the future of Earth by investing in technology solutions.

The firm aims to use business as a force for good by investing in the next generation of entrepreneurs to build a more sustainable, fair and regenerative future.

They invest in European and African pre-seed and seed stage Climate Tech startups from €30K to €300K.

They offer strategic and operational help and partner with Stripe, AWS and HubSpot companies.

Maguru As A Partner

Maguru was formerly an investment director at the firm when he joined three years ago as an analyst.

At 28, he became one of the youngest VC partners in Europe and among the less than 10% Black fund managers worldwide.

Before his partnership with Satgana, he worked at a Paris-based family office where he invested and managed a €20 million portfolio.

“I joined Satgana to back founders working towards climate change adaptation and mitigation. I have been appointed in a way that I will have a strong presence in Africa,” he told TechCrunch.

He added that the firm plans to have two bigger funds for Africa and Europe.

The first will allocate up to 40% of its current and first €10 million fund in plant-positive startups in Africa by investing up to €300,000 in pre-seed and seed startups.

It focuses particularly on the mobility, food and agriculture, energy, industry, buildings and the circular economy sub-sectors in Africa.

“There is a significant potential for Africa to work towards building resilience, powering sustainable growth, and contributing to the transition to a Net Zero economy,” said Maguru.
