Non-profit organization America On Tech (AOT) has been awarded a $100 million one-time grant from Michael Jordan’s Black Community Commitment (BCC) to help accelerate their work across cities.
To celebrate Michael Jordan’s 60th birthday, the organization awarded $2.3M to 48 organizations across America. AOT was awarded for the work they have been doing in the community in crucial areas, from economic justice to education and narrative change to social justice.
“Creating more equitable futures for Black people starts with an intentional journey. So, as our Jordan Brand family celebrates Michael’s 60th birthday, we are thrilled to welcome these organizations committed to accelerating progress in their communities,” said Craig Williams, Jordan Brand President, in an online statement.
The platform works to bring sustainable solutions to help improve Black lives in the neighborhood. Through the Alumni Technology Skills Fellowship, college students are trained to prepare for high-level roles in the tech industry.
“America On Tech is excited to have been chosen for a one-time grant by Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand to develop our Alumni Technology Skills Fellowship Program,” said Jessica Santana, co-founder, and CEO of America On Tech, in an online statement.
America On Tech hopes to use the funding to address the formal goals and measures of equity and inclusion for its Black alums. Additionally, the AOT will use the grant funding to foster career readiness and entrepreneurship within the group.
